Website strategy for an art school start-up
Website design audit | copyediting | navigation redesign
The brainchild of an artist/designer, Wunder Gym was a small business start-up with a novel offering. Developed as 'an art school for busy people', Wunder Gym offers emerging artists opportunities to exhibit their work, receive mentoring from established artists, increase their artist networks, and build their existing arts practice through envelope-pushing projects.
Wunder Gym launched with a fully operational website, and didn't require assistance with their graphic branding. Rather, they sought my assistance to ensure the concept of Wunder Gym was communicated clearly to prospective members through the website's content and structure.
I began by reviewing Wunder Gym's website through the lens of a prospective customer, highlighting gaps in the information and the path to user conversion. I restructured the website navigation to ensure the key elements of the program were clear, while highlighting the unique aspects that distinguish Wunder Gym from other private art schools in Melbourne.
After heavily editing the website copy, I recommended a new membership payment platform be integrated into the website to reduce the business' ongoing fees and make communication with existing members more streamlined. I also drew from their growing image library to illustrate key aspects of the program visually.
My moniker, 'the fixer', was coined when Wunder Gym's enrolments doubled in the months after the revised website went live.
