Logo & website design for a tour company

Designer Sarah Light and artist/maker Simon Clayton relocated from Melbourne to Umbria, Italy in 2016 seeking to learn more about Europe’s handmade craft and design history (and if they’re honest – live a slower-paced life ensconced in good food and drink, artisanal practices, and a daily riposo).
When they soon became accustomed to this traditional Italian way of life (who wouldn’t), they learned it is fast disappearing. And so they turned their their experience into something that would benefit likeminded creative folk: The Tour Studio. The Tour Studio’s ‘why’ is simple: To offer incredible travel experiences to fellow design and artisanal craft lovers around the world.
Sarah and Simon’s brief for an identity design highlighted design-savvy brands they adored and that represented their values. The mark needed to be broad enough to work for any of TTS' intended ventures: design tours worldwide, lifestyle tours in Italy and surrounds, as well as smaller workshops and events. The Tour Studio wanted to promote an inclusive and exclusive experience – the idea that by going on a tour or attending a TTS workshop, their design-savvy guests are being taken 'behind the scenes', guided by knowledgeable individuals, and given a very personalised and meaningful experience that they might otherwise not have had.
Their wishes were delivered through a typographic mark highlighting the T & U in studio to look like +U – "plus you". This symbol can be extracted for use where appropriate and has the added benefit of becoming a logo in and of itself, distinguishing the brand in places where English is not the primary language.
The Tour Studio logo was immediately approved and subsequently rolled out to social media profiles, business cards and print advertising. The logo was also recognised amongst the best logo designs (Travel & Tourism) at Design Rush. A mobile-responsive website was designed and developed combining Sarah and Simon’s extensive image library. On this project I also assisted with social media content development, and website copywriting and editing.
